Avatar Leaves Disney Plus For The Big Screen
Avatar leaves Disney Plus for the big screen. Yes it’s going back. The groundbreaking movie debuted in 2009. It was the first movie to use CGI in a way that had previously not been done. It also blew up the popularity of 3D and the IMAX Theater experience. People all over the world loved it. Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time with a whopping 2.847 billion dollars globally.
Avatar has been a feature on Disney Plus. However, this week Disney confirmed the movie would be removed in preparation for its rerelease in theaters. And it’s not just any release, it’s going to appear in 4K High Dynamic Range.
In addition, the timing is pretty strategic. The release is intended to get fans geared up for the movie’s much anticipated sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.
A three time Oscar winner, the movie was nominated for a total of nine Academy Awards in 2010 and ended up taking home three.
Avatar is by far the biggest box office money maker but Tom Cruise and Top Gun: Maverick are slowly sneaking up the domestic ranks, so far knocking out other block busters such as Titanic and the Avengers: Infinity Wars
Although Avatar leaves Disney Plus for the big screen, you still might be able to catch it one more time.
