Going Lo-cal Italian For Wine Wednesday
Today we are going lo-cal Italian for Wine Wednesday and it’s also a fabulous find.
I was first introduced to SYLTBAR several years ago. A lovely representative from the company, was pouring a festive glass of Prosecco and telling me how great it was. Then she mentioned that the wine was very low in sugar, calories, like only 48 of them. My first thought was not, “Oh goodie, low cal, I can have two glasses!” It was more of, “Oh boy, how good can this really be?”
The answer, really good! I talked about the sparkling wine in a podcast on Italian bubbles and have seen the wine here and there in Southwest Florida. There is also a sparkling rose.
However, last year the brand introduced a new line of fine wines including one called Silk which is a friulano. Friulano is a white grape that is often called the sauvignon blanc of Itlay. It generally makes wine with herbal qualities, is dry and acidic with flavors of stone fruits and citrus.
I opened a bottle last night and it was delightful. Great with salad and seafood. If you’re looking for an alternative white that is good with food, look for one like this. SYLTBAR’s Friulano is $25 and only available online right now.

Food is art and there is nothing quite like discovering it when you travel. Even better when it is in your own back yard. I love looking at foodie videos on social media. So, today it’s all about outstanding foodie finds for TikTok Tuesday.
Today you’ll see some videos that are guaranteed to make you hungry. Others will leave you in awe of the talents of chefs around the country. They may even inspire you. Inspire you to buy a plane ticket to fly to these cities with the sole purpose of dining. Several of these are THAT good. In addition, I’ve included a video from a Miami restaurant that looks super cool. It’s an easy drive for a weekend getaway.
This delicious dessert comes from Naples Coastal Kitchen. It was a foodie favorite at the time.
I take lots of photos of food. I also take videos of food and cocktails. I’m sure I annoy friends from time to time when we are dining out. But in my defense, I also write about food for a number of outlets, both locally and nationally.
So, it really is work.

I mean seriously. What kind of glass is best. It’s a latte. But wait, it’s still an ale. And yes your glassware makes a difference. The press release suggests using a goblet.Frosty mug it is

With no goblet close by, the frosty mug wines by default. That nitro creates a fun fizzy sound when you pop the top.
So how is it? Pumpkin Spice fans will be in heaven. It has a creamy mouthfeel, but not over the top. The ale gives a slightly bitter edge. The notes of coffee are prevalent throughout, mostly in the middle and finish.

I write a lot about food and wine. Today, it’s a Fabulous Find for those with food allergies.
When I write about food, it’s not just about restaurants and such. I’m constantly looking for new and unique food products. There are a number of people in my circle who have food allergies and sensitivities. There are others who choose to eat a certain way because it makes them feel better. Or they have certain convictions when it comes to the use of animal products. I respect that. But it sometimes becomes a challenge when cooking or hosting an event to make sure I have something for everyone.

Over the years I’ve tried a lot of foods that are made without “this” and free of “that.” Some are good, some are downright horrible. You just never know. So when the folks at Eat G.A.N.G.S.T.E.R. sent me a box of goods to sample I approached with caution. I love the packaging, I love the story. Now lets see if I love the food.
Eat G.A.N.S.T.E.R. is a brand that specializes in treats that are gluten free, nut free, lactose free, free of all kinds of things that trigger allergies in many people.
I started with the sugar cookies and they were a big hit at a brunch I recently hosted. When I told people they were free of most of things they typically eat in cookies (nuts, eggs, butter) my friends were shocked. These were super easy to make and with very few ingredients.

The ready to drink cocktail market is booming right now. Seems everyone is getting n the game including rock legend Sammy Hagar. He just released a line of sparkling rum cocktails.Each can has a QR code on it that reveals a special video message from Hagar.
I have not tried them yet so cannot vouch for them. Keep an eye out for the Tangerine Dream, Pineapple Splash, Island Pop and Cherry Kola Chill. Let me know what you think after you pop the top on one.
