Kelly Clarkson And Sam Smith Moving Duet

Fans are swooning over Kelly Clarkson and Sam Smith moving duet this week. It happened on her television talk show in a regular segment called "Kellyoke." Kelly sings various songs with her guests, but typically avoids her own. Apparently she gave in to singing "Breakaway" at Sam's request. Even though he requested it, he was pretty nervous about the duet, and so was Kelly. Check out this behind the scenes video of the two rehearsing.

Singing the song "Breakaway" with Kelly was an emotional experience for Sam.  On social media, he said that Kelly and her music were inspirational to him growing up. He found healing in her songs and in her voice. His career is pretty amazing too. He has four coveted Grammy awards.

Are you ready for some "Breakaway" trivia? Avril Lavigne was one of the writers of the hit song. She originally intended to record it but it didn't make the cut for her album. So Kelly became the lucky recipient. The song is a blockbuster. Hitting the top ten on the charts, it also put Kelly in the record books with Celine Dion and Adele. All three topped the US Adult Contemporary charts for twenty-one non-consecutive weeks.

The former talent contestant also famously assumed the roll of judge in The Voice. Currently, Kelly  has a successful daytime talk show that has racked up five Emmys.

Her Hollywood Walk of Fame unveiling turned into an American Idol reunion with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson making appearances. Simon also has a star on the famous walk. When he received the honor in 2018, Kelly was there to celebrate . He returned the favor this week with a glowing speech.
