Support Local Healthcare Heroes On Giving Tuesday
Support local healthcare heroes on Giving Tuesday. It’s time to shine the spotlight on those who sacrificed their own safety and that of their families, to take care of Southwest Floridians during Hurricane Ian.
As the storm approached and most residents prepared their homes and property, medical officials were gearing up for a flood of a different kind. A flood of potential injuries and death. However, even with the best preparations, no one expected to see or experience what happened next.
Behind the local healthcare heroes scene
I was able to get a behind the scenes look here. Thanks to Chris Simoneau, Chief Development, Marketing and Communications Officer, along with Sabrina Gorton HealthPark Nurse Manager. They talk about the impact the storm had on healthcare professionals. Also, what it was like to be trapped at work as the water rose in the parking lot, carrying away cars and seeping into the building, and more.
After watching this video, I think it gives a better perspective of what our healthcare workers have been through. Not just from Ian, but also on the heels of COVID.
How to help local healthcare heroes
So many people have asked me what can they do, where they can give following Hurricane Ian. They are looking for an organization or a cause that has a direct impact on the people of Southwest Florida. The people who are struggling to get back on track after the storm. This is one of those places.
Our healthcare heroes are the ones who keep us going physically and mentally. Sometimes we forget they too need some help. Thanks again to Chris and Sabrina for taking time to share their stories with us.
Finally, click here to reach Lee Health Foundation’s website which has details about giving. The other site mentioned in the video is Southwest Florida Stronger together which you can reach here.
Support local healthcare heroes on Giving Tuesday. It is my hope that you will join with whatever you are able to give.
