Many restaurants change their menus seasonally. Especially those that are smaller, and lean toward farm to table cuisine. Previewing the new menu at Harold’s Restaurant in Fort Myers this week was more than a treat, it is this week’s Fabulous Find.

Chef and owner Harold Balink is a beloved, award winning chef who is originally from Colorado. However, he has been in Southwest Florida on and off for decades. He opened his small. eponymous restaurant in a Fort Myers strip mall (15250 S Tamiami Trail) in 2015. Six years later he expanded to meet demand. In addition to more seats, he also added a full bar.

It’s a feel good spot in every way. The servers are professional and friendly. Dishes are full of flavor and ingenuity. In addition, the wine list is well curated and the whisky selection gets better and better.

• Skull Island Shrimp With Revolver Rose

  This giant Skull Island shrimp dish has all these great flavor components to swirl through. Including a delicious orange horseradish.

• Chilled Shrimp Margarita

  The giant shrimp is from Skull Island in Australia. I remembered Revolver Rose has skulls on it's label. In conclusion, I had to have a glass. It was a nice pairing.

• Seared Foie Gras

  Made with 5 spice, it comes on a thin piece of nori for an umami twist.
• Main Lobster Ravioli

  A well executed, easy to manage starter in basil cream and chive emulsion. I love the crispy scallop cracker around the edge

• Pheasant Breast

  Check out this huge breast. It really is big for pheasant and the flavor was amazing. The potatoes and the rhubarb sauce were the icing on the cake.

• 12 Seasons Tomato Panzanella

  Harold's take on this Italian dish uses heirloom tomatoes. Light and fresh going into the summer.
• Garlic Glazed Cauliflower

  Don't worry, Harold's famous Buffalo style cauliflower is still on the menu. This is a new addition that also has garbanzo beans, pearl onions and slivers of beets.

• Irish Coffee

  Can't go wrong with a coffee drink for desert. However, the bar also has a great selection of aged spirits for sipping.
