If you like wings, you have something in common with Guy Fieri from Triple D and one wing spot in South Florida is one of his favorites.
In Southwest Florida we have some great spots for chicken wings. Right off the top of my head, I think of Wicked Wings and Buckett's in Fort Myers and Buffalo Chips in Bonita Springs. So many of the chain restaurants have great wings too like Hooters, Twin Peaks and Duffy's just to name a few.
But what makes good chicken wings great? I think it depends on how you like them. Smoked or deep-fried? Hot and spicy or cool and flavorful? I prefer boneless wings. I know, I know. Some people don't even put boneless wings and regular wings in the same category. But they're easier to eat and really, I just want the chicken and the sauce. So judge me. And I still eat the celery and dip them in ranch, so it's about as close as you can get.
Guy Fieri is the master of all things food. On his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, he has crossed the country finding his favorite and one South Florida wing spot is one of his all time favorites.
If you find yourself taking a drive to the other coast in search of good wings, don't look any further. If Guy says it's good, it's good. And Guy recommends the Scampi Wings at Scully's Tavern in Miami. They do their wings a little different. First they fry them, then they're tossed in sauce and grilled twice. Picture the flavors of shrimp scampi in a chicken wing. SIGN ME UP!
Gas up the car, grab a napkin (or two) and great ready to get down on some wings the Triple D way!

Living in Florida, we know we have a ton of choices when it comes to good food. Especially here in Southwest Florida. Think of all of the delicious restaurants on Sanibel and Captiva islands, in Downtown Ft. Myers, on 5th Avenue in Naples or in many of the malls in the area like Gulf Coast Town Center and Bell Tower. But, have you tried any of these places Guy Fieri went to on his popular Food Network show?
I'm not a big cook, however I'm obsessed with the Food Network and one of my favorite shows is Guy Fieri's “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." Not only has it given me some great ideas on places to try, but it's also fun to see what each place offers. And my list keeps getting longer especially since 67 Florida restaurants have been featured.
If you want to see a list of ALL the restaurants featured on the show, TVFoodmaps.com has a full list. But, out of the 67 in Florida, while not all of them are still open, below are 20 'Diners, Drive-In's and Dives' restaurants closest to us in SWFL (in order by mileage). If Guy Fieri loves these places, we've got to give them a shot.
