Wine To Help Canines, A Fabulous Find
I have been holding on to this wine for weeks, waiting for the next time folks from the Gulf Coast Humane Society stop by the studio with a special furry friend who needs a home. Today is the day and here is a fun and delicious wine to help canines, a fabulous find.
Rascal Wines are made in Oregon. The labels have a silhouette of a dog on them. It’s Rascal, the winery’s Golden Retriever, who has crossed the Golden Bridge. Besides honoring the dog’s legacy, a percentage of sales from each bottle is donated to help animals through the Humane Society of the United States. More than $100,000 had been donated by the end of last year.
Rascal is made for dog lovers by fellow dog lovers. Winemaker Julia Catrall says, “Some 64% of wine drinkers own dogs and rascal shares the values of these consumers.” The female winemaking team at Rascal use grapes that are sustainably farmed. They make pinot noir, chardonnay, rose and pinot gris. I love a good Oregon pinot gris. However, I’ve only tried the chardonnay and pinot noir.
Wine To Help Canines
First up is the chardonnay. It is one of those refreshing and crisp chardonnays. There is citrus and peach with nice minerality. In addition, it has a nice roundness to it. For only $15, it is a REAL fabulous find. I recently tried my hand at some Indian inspired food and served this wine. It was a fantastic pairing. Click here for the video and info on the recipe.
Finally, the pinot noir. It’s a wine with lots of bright red fruits. In addition, it has some vanilla and spice. This one runs $17.99. It’s a good value for an Oregon pinot. It should be easy to find in retailers.
In conclusion, if you like a good wine with a good story and one that gives back, give Rascal a try. This wine to help canines is a Fabulous Find. Cheers.
Drink Responsibly.
