Rolling Stones on How Long It Takes Them to Realize a Great Song Idea
The Rolling Stones have decades of experience writing music, but how long does it take them to realize a song idea is really something?
They touched on that topic in a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning. Mick Jagger told Anthony Mason, “You can’t be dismissive of it if you don’t get it in the first one minute, but you kind of get to know in ten minutes, I’d say.”
Keith Richards agreed, adding, “It doesn’t take long to know if something’s really there and whether it’s worth chasing.”
The Rolling Stones release their new album, Hackney Diamonds, this Friday (October 20). A full track list for the album is below, and it’s available for pre-order in a variety of formats at RollingStones.com.
So far, two tracks have been previewed: “Angry” and “Sweet Sounds of Heaven.” The latter track features Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga. As previously reported, other guests on Hackney Diamonds include Paul McCartney, original Stones bassist Bill Wyman and Elton John. McCartney plays on “Bite My Head Off,” while Wyman and John play bass and piano, respectively, on “Live by the Sword.”
