Singing Loud, Peeing Proud: Woman Takes Police on Wild Chase Through Florida Keys

Things can get pretty wild in the Florida Keys. Even during the holidays. Just ask Courtney Epps from Taylors, South Carolina. As the saying goes, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” However, in Epps’ case, her rendition of holiday spirit took a detour into public urination.

According to WPLG, a gray Chevy Suburban was blazing through the southbound lanes at very high speeds. Troopers, with lights flashing and sirens wailing, tried desperately to interrupt Epps’ adrenaline-fueled joyride. Yet, she remained immune to their charms, navigating the Seven Mile Bridge with the finesse of a rebel reindeer with a runaway sleigh.

Not even the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, armed with spike strips, could rein in Epps’ vehicular theatrics. The second attempt succeeded in deflating three tires, but did she yield? Absolutely not. Epps continued her reckless race, weaving through a bunch of marathon runners!

The climax arrives at Mile Marker 80, where Epps’ joyride meets a crashing end at a construction site. The authorities finally seized the opportunity to put an end to her high-speed spectacle. But that was just the beginning of the Epps holiday show.

Post-collision, Epps transformed the hospital into her own chaotic symphony… Complete with wild eyes, gospel song serenades, and an unexpected interlude of public urination in the lobby. Even when faced with field sobriety tests, Epps invoked divine intervention, claiming “God the father” told her to cease cooperation.

Now, in the aftermath of her joyous journey, Epps faces a number of charges, from DUI to a felony for fleeing with utter disregard. Grab your coal! Because, Courtney Epps has earned her lumps as the Florida Keys’ naughtiest speedster. And remember, in the festive spirit of the season, singing loud may spread cheer, but public urination… Ah, not so much.

I’ve been boating in Florida a lot and there’s one main rule. The driver needs to be sober. I don’t care how drunk you get when you get to shore, but drunk boating can get very dangerous. This incident along Madeira Beach in St. Petersburg could have ended much differently.

Not sure how long he had been speeding along slumped over the wheel, but long enough that the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was able to get over him and get this video. The boat luckily kept along the shoreline rather than heading to the beach. You can see he was close enough that he went in between the swimmers and the kayaker.

I wish the helicopter would have zoomed in so we could see the looks on the faces of the people on Madeira Beach. I’m sure some of them were just as drunk as the guy driving the boat. Back in high school we called it Mad Beach. Do they still call it that? I have about a week’s worth of stories I could tell about that place, but some of the people involved are married and have families now. It wouldn’t be right. I’m trying to be respectful, Brenda.
