Rebel Wilson Is Convinced Adele Hates Her

Rumor has it that every time Adele would cross paths with Rebel Wilson, she would avoid her at any cost. Because the two were apparently often compared to looking alike, Wilson was convinced the singer hated her.

"Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me," Wilson, 44, writes in her upcoming memoir, Rebel Rising, according to an excerpt obtained by InTouch Weekly.

“There was a moment when she was bigger, and some people would confuse us for one another… I am assuming, because to be fair, I’ve never asked her,” Wilson continued.

According to the Bridesmaids alum, the few times that she and the Grammy winner, 35, crossed paths, Adele “always quickly” turned away whenever she saw Wilson heading in her direction. “As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds. That she didn’t like being compared to ‘Fat Amy,’” Wilson wrote, referring to her Pitch Perfect character.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one person criticized Wilson's point: "Rebel Wilson relying her book’s entire rollout on the 'theory' that she 'thinks' Adele doesn’t like her because Adele didn’t fawn over her for 7 hours at a party …" Another person wrote: "I feel like, if you’re gonna name & shame people in a memoir, it should be with cold hard truth & facts. Not assumptions that you think someone doesn’t like you because 'she didn’t want your fatness to rub off on her.' It feels more like a 'Dear Diary.'"

Both entertainers have lost significant weight around the same time. As we previously reported, in 2021, Adele said she shed 100 pounds in two years. Her fans were apparently "let down" by her weight loss, telling The Face at the time that her weight loss had nothing to do with her “confident and mouthy” personality."

Wilson stated in her book that she got her start in Hollywood playing “the fat funny girl, making self-deprecating jokes,” but began to be taken more seriously in 2020 when she lost more than 80 pounds. At the time of our posting, Adele has not responded to Wilson's claims.

Wilson’s memoir, which hits bookshelves Tuesday, April 2, has already caused massive waves online after she dedicated an entire chapter to “massive a-hole” Sacha Baron Cohen. On a recent appearance on Today, Wilson calls it the "worst professional experience" she has ever endured. She adds that she was humiliated and degraded on a personal level and that Cohen hated women, especially ones who he thought were fat.

When asked to respond to SBC's denial of her allegations, Wilson stated that when writing a memoir, the book gets "fully legally vetted," meaning there are tons of people backing her allegations against the comedian. "The book is 100% honest, truthful," she adds.
