8-Year-Old Florida Girl Calls 911 to Report Drunk Driving Dad
My mom always told me that doing the right thing doesn’t feel good. I can’t even imagine what this brave kid might have felt. An 8-year-old Florida girl from Cape Coral decided to take matters into her own hands when she suspected her dad was up to no good. It was Sunday night, around 11:08 p.m., when this little superhero dialed 911 to report her father for drinking and driving.

According to NBC2, Cape Coral police rushed to the scene, finding a car with the engine humming and Albert Coronado, 36, catching some Zs behind the wheel. Meanwhile, his daughter was in the back seat, probably completely panicked. Imagine having to call 911 to report your own dad! Sure it was the right thing to do, but following through must have been extremely difficult for the kid.
When Mr. Coronado finally woke up, he copped to having a few drinks, and admitted that his daughter was the one with enough sense to call for help. I guess he can take some pride in knowing that she did the right thing and saved lives. His life included. And if you ask me, that 8-year-old Florida girl has more courage in her little pinky finger than most adults have in their entire body.
The police slapped him with a double whammy of one count of driving under the influence and another for doing it with a minor in the car. Luckily, the police handled the situation like pros. They let the Florida girl go to another family member, making sure she was safe and sound. Crisis averted thanks to this young Florida girl.
Now, you might wonder what’s next for Mr. Coronado. Well, let’s just say his night went from sleepy to not-so-sleepy real quick. And let’s be real, Coronado’s lucky this wasn’t worse. This could’ve ended a lot differently. Let’s hope this is a wake-up call for him in more ways than one.
