5 Comforting Hot Soup Recipes For A Cold Day
Whether you are fighting a cold or just wanting to warm up on a cold day, soup is a cure-all. Here are 5 comforting hot soup recipes for a cold day, and for TikTok Tuesday.
Soups can be made with almost any ingredient you have in your refrigerator or pantry. But not all are good in my humble opinion. Perhaps it is for this reason that I have a love/hate relationship with soup. I fear the main culprit for this dilemma is the beloved chicken noodle soup. Blasphemy, I know.
Spoiler alert. You will NOT find any chicken noodle soup recipes below. If you think you have a recipe that will change my mind, send it here. I’m willing to give it a go.
I pulled these videos from my TikTok account. You don’t need an account to watch them, even if you click the link. In fact, some videos you don’t even have to click on to see in full, while others have directions in the captions and audio.

Golden Garlic Soup
I love the title of her recipe series, Soups That Don’t Suck. Considering the above confession, it immediately got my attention. This one is good for colds. It’s also a soup you could “doctor up” with a variety of proteins.
Lasagna Soup
Say what? I’m going crazy for the cheese balls she makes and puts in this soup at the end. Besides soup, anything with red sauce, cheese and pasta is comforting to me.
Hungarian Mushroom Soup
The name alone makes me feel automatically warm. When it comes to Hungarian soups you might be more familiar with goulash with hot paprika. This one uses sweet paprika and it looks rich, savory and filling.
Thai Coconut Soup
The flavors in Thai soups are usually so vibrant. Some take lots of steps and are a little more difficult to make. However, this one looks easy and sounds delicious.

Detox Cabbage Soup
I threw this in because sometimes in January, people are trying to detox from the holidays, in multiple ways. This soup is way. For those not wanting to detox I can see adding some ground pork or spicy sausage to this for some protein.
