After a three-year hiatus, Sanibel's Taste of the Islands made its return to the island. The event, which helps support the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, had been put on hold due to COVID-19 and hurricane damage.

Sanibel Deli took the spotlight, grabbing two major awards with their smores cheesecake. Their delicious creation earned them both the People's Choice Award and Best Dessert during the week-long celebration.

Eight local restaurants took home wins in various categories. Guests enjoyed Rosalita's award-winning margaritas, while Lighthouse Cafe's banana Fosters French toast dominated the breakfast category. Tutti Pazzi shined in two areas — their slider grabbed Best Appetizer and their pasta dish won Best Vegetarian.

For main courses, Cielo's Chilean sea bass took Best Seafood, while BRGR's bacon cheeseburger slider grabbed the Best Meat award.

Leading up to the main event, restaurants across Sanibel welcomed guests for a preview week. Visitors shared their picks throughout the event, building anticipation for the final awards.
