The Animal Refuge Center will hold its 31st Annual Starlight Auction on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa. This event is the main fundraiser for Southwest Florida's largest no-kill shelter.
The 2024 event broke records, bringing in more than $300,000. Board Vice President Rob Spicker said the group wants to match that success this year.
"We exceeded our goal last year of raising more than $300,000, and hope for the same kind of success this year," said Spicker, according to Cape Coral Breeze. "Our sponsors, donors, and guests have generous hearts in support of our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome as many cats and dogs as possible. We are confident they will come through for us yet again."
The event hosts a dinner, alongside silent and live auctions. The live portion will feature more than a dozen items, including jewelry, weekend getaways, and Caribbean vacations. There is also a pledged matching funds donation option.
The shelter has seen a rise in adoptions this year. Through a partnership with Cattyshack Cafe at Gulf Coast Town Center, cat adoptions have jumped 72% in 2025 compared to 2024, while dog adoptions have climbed 47%.
Sponsorships remain available for businesses and individuals, ranging from $500 to $10,000.
Tickets cost $125 per person. They're on sale through the Animal Refuge Center website.
