I love a good food and wine pairing. The two were meant to go together. Food and wine.
Many Southwest Florida restaurants offer wine dinners. They are a great way to learn and discover new things. Along with enjoying wine the way it is meant to be enjoyed, with food.
I occasionally help facilitate wine dinners, and planning is half of the fun. So when chef Justin Flemming asked me to assist with a wine dinner at the St. Charles Yacht Club in Fort Myers, I jumped at the chance.
St. Charles is a private club on the water. The members are a lot of fun and the clubhouse, dock space, and property in general are beautiful. Not a bad place to eat great food and drink amazing wine.
I’ve done a number of events with chef Flemming and always loved his creativity, along with his salty humor. When it comes to wine dinners, he puts a lot of effort into matching the food to the wines. We picked a summer in Bordeaux theme, although by now summer is almost over and harvest is about to begin in the French wine region.
Regardless, these wines came from four different chateaus, all are small production, organically farmed, and fantastic. They even play music in the vineyards to make the vines, and workers, happy.
Here are a few photos from the latest food and wine pairing dinner at St. Charles.
