About this dog
Dakota is a very friendly two year old German Shepherd who has only been at the shelter for about a month. She was adopted briefly but the owners had cats. Dakota is not a cat dog. She likes to play with them too much. However, she is good with other dogs. Although if you DO have other dogs, It is always advised you bring them in for a meet and greet. Even if you are adopting a cat.
Dakota was accompanied by Gary Willoughby, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Humane Society. He couldn't stop bragging about her. She was great in the car ride over, even in this crazy Southwest Florida traffic. Dakota is about 50 pounds, on the small side for a German Shepard so she is a little more easy to manage. In addition, her age is near perfect for a pet. She is out of the puppy stage and entering the prime of her life.
On a side note, a little update from a previous visit. If you remember Dillion from last month. He still needs a home. Click here to find more about him and see his photos. Another super cool dog.
Finally, this Saturday you can adopt a new fury friend for free. All adoptions are being sponsored by Roelens Vacations. Check the website for more information and directions to the shelter. You can also see a gallery with adoption profiles of all of the animals, both dogs and cats, that need a forever home. Now is a great time to add to your family. The shelters are full and fees are going to be covered on Saturday. Meet Dakota. Help this dog find a Southwest Florida home if you can.
