The first Thursday of the month we are treated with a special in studio visit from the Gulf Coast Humane Society (GCHS). This week Executive Director Gary Willoughby came in with this lovable guy. Meet Copper the new Sunny Pet Of The Month.
If there could be a photo in the dictionary under the term "happy dog" it would be Copper. He is a terrier mix and Gary speculated that mix might have boxer. He is an older dog, 9-years old but you wouldn't know it. Copper is pretty lively and has a lot of spunk, but not too much. He is good on a leash and likes to walk. However, he appreciates nice long naps too,
There are many benefits to adopting an older dog. He is house trained, doesn't chew your shoes, and is good in the car. Copper is also super friendly and loving with both people and other dogs. His weight is around 50 pounds. If you already have an animal, it is good to make an introduction at the shelter before bringing any new pet home. Also, if you have a dog, don't forget about our Puppy Pick 'Ems Pet Photo Contest.
Sunny recently teamed up with GCHS and Florida Blue for a big adoption event. 20 dogs and cats were given new homes on that Saturday and the momentum is still going. You can see all of the animals up for adoption on the GCHS website. You can also fill out applications there so if you are ready to adopt it can help speed the process. Click here for a video of the event.
Here are some photos of Copper, the new Sunny Pet of the Month. Please help us find him a forever home. And remember, adopt don't shop.
