It’s a two day wine event this week for Wine Wednesday. My first Red, White and Bubbles Wine Tasting was last night (09/06). The second is tonight (09/07).
Yep, a two night tasting of some amazing wines at Golden Rind Cheese and Wine shop in Fort Myers. The small, locally owned store on McGregor Blvd in Fort Myers asked me to host last night’s tasting. When it sold out, we added part two, tonight. I not only love drinking wine, I also like educating others about it through events like these and the stories I write.
Golden Rind Cheese and Wine Shop is full of gourmet goodies and a great space for cheese and wine events.
The shop specializes in fantastic cheeses, cured meats and all kinds of gourmet goodies. And then there is the wine. It’s all stored in temperature controlled cases so it wont be compromised by the Southwest Florida heat.
The Wines
We began our evening with Perelada Brut Cava. Cava is a sparkling wine from Spain, perfect to begin any event, day or night. It’s my house fave.
It was followed up by a unique white blend from Australia, viognier and marsanne. A great sipping and food wine, it’s from award winning producer d’Arenburg.
The red selections featured one of my favorite small producers from Oregon, Mad Violets. They make two pinot noirs and we tried their flagship from Willamette. It was a favorite of the night.
We brought it home with a bold, red blend from Paso Robles. I love this part of California. The wines from here are often more affordable than Napa. A lot of interesting blends come from this region, like Paydirt, Going For Broke. It’s zinfandel based with grenache, syrah, petit sirah and mourvedre. The artwork on the bottle makes it one you want to display after the wine is gone.
