According to reports, Hurricane Hunters couldn’t find a clear center during their latest flight due to the storm moving across St. Lucia. That disruption and dry air is preventing Dorian from intensifying.

Heavy rainfall over portions of the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic could produce flash flood flooding during the next few days.

  In Puerto Rico, hundreds of people have been crowding into grocery stores and gas stations. Many are concerned over power outages and heavy rains on an island which still struggles to recover from Hurricane Maria, a Category 4 storm back in September of 2017. On Monday, Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency and provided a list of all the new equipment that public agencies have bought since Hurricane Maria. "I want everyone to feel calm," she said. "Agency directors have prepared for the last two years. The experience of Maria has been a great lesson for everyone." Vázquez ordered public schools to close Tuesday afternoon and that at least one cruise ship canceled its trip to Puerto Rico.

  The threat of winds and heavy rains later this week into this weekend in the Turks and Caicos, The Bahamas, and Florida is increasing.  There was a slight change in its track now heading North. The forecast cone now includes Central Florida.  Residents must have their hurricane plan in place. It is still uncertain the intensity forecast later this week remains higher than usual due to Dorian's potential interaction with Hispaniola and Puerto Rico.
