Beginning on Saturday, September 3, 2022, Florida’s Tool Time Sales Tax Holiday Starts. Floridians may purchase qualifying items commonly used by skilled trade workers, exempt from sales tax on retail sales. These items include power tools, work boots, and toolboxes, according to FloridaRevenue.com thru Friday, September 9, 2022.
A list of qualifying items during this week long holiday are listed below. We’ve also included the list of items that will not qualify.
If you purchase an item that would otherwise qualify for the sales tax exemption but costs more than the limits listed below, the item is not exempt. You must pay sales tax on the entire price of the item. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items that can be purchased tax-exempt. So that’s a plus.
The exemption is good for qualifying items purchased thru mail order, catalog, or online. They are exempt when the order is accepted by the company during the sales tax holiday period for immediate shipment. The delivery can be made after the sales tax holiday period.
So, if you’re in the market for some new “toys” this Labor Day weekend, tomorrow thru Friday is the time to go shopping.
FloridaRevenue.com has a FAQ page that should be able to answer any questions you might have. We will link that here for easy reference.
Oh! One more important tip and this is a good one. You CAN use a gift card, if you have one, for these purchases.
