Shania Twain is very touched by Jon Bon Jovi calling her his "spirit sister" in a recent interview with People.

As previously reported, Twain and Bon Jovi both underwent the same vocal surgery by the same doctor. Bon Jovi's experience with this surgery, called vocal fold medialization, is a focal point in the new Hulu docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

JBJ told People, "Not only did she reassure me that it would be OK, but I think she also pulled my leg a little bit because she told me I'd be out there a lot sooner than I have been. She says, ‘Well, I told you that because I knew that you might back out otherwise.' And so, I couldn't wait to get the operation.”

In her own interview with People, Twain said it "warms my heart" of Bon Jovi calling her his "spirit sister."

Twain noted, "It is a very special bond because there are very few singers that have ever had this nerve damage ... I shared my experience with him, and before he took the plunge, I just shared the best I could without influencing him in any way."

The country superstar told InStyle in February that following her vocal fold medialization surgery in 2018, " ... I was petrified to make a sound ... It did scare me, but I just had to take the leap and make a sound, and I was so excited about what came out."
