Obese Dog Has An Inspiring Weight Loss Journey
Strudel, an overweight pup, came to the animal rescue Hearts for Hounds after her owner passed away. The dog weighed 81 pounds and was starting to see negative health effects. According to the rescue group, Strudel was starting to have inflamed joints and was having a hard time walking.
A couple noticed the dog and decided to do something about her weight. They are the owners of the Zoom Room in Virginia Beach and offered dog training services for free. They worked with a veterinarian to come up with a proper diet plan as well as design an agility course to help Strudel get healthy.

According to the Huffington Post, the couple stated that they “motivate dogs with treats, toys, and praise but Strudel was actually easy, it’s almost like she knew what she had to do. We didn’t have to use any treats at all because she was motivated to do the agility [course] with just a lot of praise.”
For anyone who has ever owned a golden retriever before, this sounds just like the breed!
Now that she has lost 25 pounds, Strudel is looking for a forever home. If you or someone you know is looking for this lovable four-legged friend, feel free to apply!
