Fast thinking by the crew of the Key West Express enabled them to rescue two people and a dog from a burning boat. The mayday call came in last night around 7:30. The couple and their dog, who live in Myakka, are fine. It’s unclear how the fire started.
The crash that caused the Cape Coral Bridge to close for close to four hours Monday morning was actually part of a car jacking. According to reports the suspect that crashed their Mercedes into a power pole overnight Sunday, then carjacked a good Samaritan who had stopped to help. The suspect did give the carjack victim $200 for their troubles, then took off in a vehicle that had picked him up. Still no arrests have been made. Police are continuing their investigation.
