Did The Simpsons Predict The Ted Cruz Controversy?

The Simpsons are known for accurately predicting a lot of major pop-culture moments, and they might have done it again.

After the drama surrounded Ted Cruz and his trip to Cancun, maybe fans of the show looked back at an episode that aired in 1993 titled Marge In Chains.  In it, Springfield’s Mayor Joe Quimby has a press conference telling the public about a pandemic hitting his city. It is later revealed that he made the announcement remotely while vacationing in the Caribbean.  The mayor's blue outfit in the episode also looks similar to suits Ted Cruz has worn in the past.
