The late Chadwick Boseman won Best Actor for a Motion Picture Drama in his role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

His wife, Taylor Simone Ledward accepted the award on his behalf. Emotional over the win, she said in between tears, "He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices."

She continued, "He would say something beautiful, something inspiring that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you you can. That tells you to keep going. That calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history."

At the end of her speech, Ledward made a touching note to celebrate the ones we love.

The other nominations for this category were Riz Ahmed Sound of Metal, Anthony Hopkins The Father, Gary Oldman Mank, and Tahar Rahim The Mauritanian.

Boseman passed away last August at the age of 43, battling colon cancer.
