Willie Garson, best known for his roles on HBO's Sex and the City and USA's White Collar, has died. He was 57.

Garson's death was confirmed by multiple outlets, including Variety and People who reported the actor died today (September 21) "following a short illness." An exact cause of death was not disclosed.

Garson appeared in 27 episodes and both films of Sex and the City playing Stanford Blatch, Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) gay best friend. He is set to appear in the series' reboot And Just Like That...which will run on HBO Max. He then appeared in 81 episodes of White Collar where he played Mozzie.

Garson's other notable credits include John from Cincinnati, the 2015-2020 TV reboot of Hawaii Five-O, Whole Day Down and Big Mouth.

Mario Cantone, who played Garson's foe and eventual husband Anthony Marentino on Sex and the City, paid tribute writing, "I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with sadness. Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the gods. Rest my sweet friend. I love you." (As of publishing, the rest of the Sex and the City cast has yet to comment on Garson's passing.)
