Dick Van Dyke had a close call today (March 22) crashing his car into a gate in Malibu, Calif.

TMZ was the first to report the accident by the 97-year-old entertainment icon. Fortunately, no other cars were involved when Van Dyke crashed his 2018 Lexus LS 500. Van Dyke's car reportedly began sliding which led to the actor losing control of its steering. What caused the car to slide in the first place had not been reported.

Fortunately, police and paramedics responded to the scene quickly. Van Dyke was treated for minor injuries which included bleeding from his nose and mouth. His injuries didn't require him to go to the hospital.

TMZ noted that due to Van Dyke's age, the police that responded to the scene are submitting paperwork to the DMV to have the actor retake his driving test.
