Bob Dylan Biopic: Internet Thinks Timothée Chalamet Looks Like This Rocker Instead

The Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, is currently in production and stars Timothée Chalamet as the legendary singer-songwriter.

The first piece of footage from the film has surfaced, but the internet doesn't necessarily think Chalamet looks like Dylan. Instead, many think the actor looks like a different Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.

First, here's the footage that has surfaced from the film showing Chalamet performing with Monica Barbaro, who plays Joan Baez.

Can you guess who many people and outlets on social media think Chalamet looks like instead of Dylan? If you guessed Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, you are correct!

Meanwhile, Spin wrote, "Hope you had the time of your life playing Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown, Timothée Chalamet."

Because the internet is...well...the internet, we should all get used to these comparisons until more footage or a trailer surfaces.

This Bob Dylan biopic has long been in the works. News of Chalamet cast as Dylan dates back to January 2020. At the time, the biopic was titled Going Electric.

In October 2020, the Dylan biopic was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Cinematographer Phedon Papamichael told Collider then, "I don’t think it’s dead, but it’s a tough one to pull off in a COVID-era because it’s all in small clubs with lots of extras in period costumes, so you’ve got lots of hair and makeup."

In April 2023, director James Mangold confirmed Chalamet would be singing in the film and not lipsync to any Dylan recordings. Mangold further noted the film, which is based on Elijah Wald's 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric, will chronicle Dylan coming to New York in his late teens to pursue music. In addition to Baez, other notable folk figures featured in the film include Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger.

While production on A Complete Unknown continues, the actual Dylan is hitting the road with Willie Nelson & Family on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. As if Dylan and Willie weren't enough, they're bringing some incredible guests along for the ride, too.

The Outlaw Music Festival Tour runs from June 21 to Sept. 17. The guests on each stop will vary, but the guest lineup includes Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, John Mellencamp, Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer, Celisse and Southern Avenue. (A breakdown of each date's lineup is below.)
