Fort Myers Beach Bar Reopens After Hurricane Ian Closure
After 15 months of quiet, Smokin’ Oyster Brewery has started cooking again at 340 San Carlos Blvd. The popular hangout has been closed since Hurricane Ian hit in 2022.
People can stop by daily from noon to 8 p.m. While food is being served, they’re still waiting on the full bar. Their liquor license is expected right after the holidays.
The place changed hands last summer when Hank Leitnaker, Nick Ruland, and Peter Ennis took over from longtime owner Bill Freeman.
Diners will find their favorite classics, like the smoky fish dip and hearty clam chowder, plus new items like juicy steak sandwiches and fresh shrimp BLT wraps.
“Everyone wanted the original menu,” Leitnaker told News Press. “So we’re bringing a lot of it back. We have the same recipes and Miguel in the kitchen has been here for years.”
Despite the remodel, Smokin’ Oyster Brewery still feels familiar — old tables and vintage signs remain in place, having made it through Ian’s destruction.
More updates are coming in 2025, with plans to build a second floor this summer.
