Florida officials barred Dylan Placker from operating any business in the state. His company, Revive Spas and More, is facing allegations of selling broken hot tubs to customers. The Florida Attorney General slapped him with $471,095 in penalties.
"This company and its owners scammed Floridians by selling damaged, defective, dangerous, and inoperative used hot tubs — causing consumers to lose hard-earned money based on the company's lies,” Attorney General James Uthmeier told News 6. “Thanks to our Consumer Protection Division, Revive Spas and More and its owners are permanently banned from operating in Florida.”
Throughout 2023, 33 people filed complaints against Dylan and his wife Chelsie. Their company misled buyers with advertisements for hot tubs claimed to be "like new" when the tubs were damaged and defective.
When the state took them to court last fall for breaking consumer laws, they reached a deal. If they pay $10,850 by the end of 2025, they'll avoid most of the fines.
Jaimy Piccirilli, a former customer, lost $3,000 on a broken hot tub. Other buyers ended up with leaking tubs that barely functioned, if they worked at all. When customers tried to use their warranties, the company ignored them.
The Plackers have previously been banned from selling hot tubs in Oklahoma for 10 years for similar legal issues.
