A 6.5-foot alligator burst into a Fort Myers home Sunday morning through a damaged screen door.

When homeowner Paul Quinn heard strange sounds and discovered the unwanted visitor in his dining room, he immediately called 911. His wife Mary Jo, who wasn't home at the time, was shocked when she saw the photo of their surprise guest on her phone.

"It's a Sunday morning, and I got an alligator in my house?" Quinn said to WSVN when he spotted the surprise visitor.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trapper arrived about an hour later. The gator fought back hard, knocking into furniture and leaving bite marks on a chair.

After they caught it, the alligator was taken to a north Florida farm. The Quinns decided to keep the bitten chair as a conversation starter.

Florida's wildlife team deals with thousands of alligator calls yearly. When people run into trouble, they can dial 866-FWC-GATOR for help.
