Lou Gramm Has Mixed Feelings About ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’
"I Want to Know What Love Is" is one of the best power ballads of all time. In fact, the song is Foreigner's only number-one hit. However, former singer Lou Gramm has mixed feelings about the song, especially considering Foreigner's [inlink id="rock-hall-2024-class" text="pending induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame"]. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Gramm is grateful for the song's success and even says he loves it, but he didn't like how the power ballad "pigeon-holed us into something" that Foreigner wasn't. https://youtu.be/r3Pr1_v7hsw?si=N3XcSO_J-wkqZRGX Gramm was then asked about what Foreigner's induction could look like, since those sets are typically three songs. Interestingly, he said the set might be only two songs and that Foreigner has 12 minutes to perform. Gramm added, "And I heard there’s going to be a segment of the induction where people like Pete Frampton and a number of other people will say why they think we should have been in, and how glad they are that we are. That’ll leave us with about six minutes left, so I heard we’re going to play one song." With only one song to play, Gramm indicated that Foreigner's performance could be only "I Want to Know What Love Is," which doesn't make him happy, considering the band's other notable hits. While Gramm acquiesces that "I Want to Know What Love Is" will likely be highlighted, he did say if things get switched around and there's time for a second song, "Juke Box Hero" would be a great option. https://youtu.be/Ic02W1bWeFU?si=L-jNUtw-9WKAblWx When is the Rock Hall 2024 Induction Ceremony? The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. [inlink id="rock-hall-2024-nominees" text="As previously reported"], the 2024 ceremony will live stream on Disney+. An edited special will air on ABC at a later date, which will be available on Hulu the next day. John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement, "Rock & Roll is an ever-evolving amalgam of sounds that impacts culture and moves generations. This diverse group of inductees each broke down musical barriers and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps." For the first time this year, the Rock Hall induction class was announced on American Idol. Host Ryan Seacrest and judge/2022 Rock Hall inductee Lionel Richie did the honors. The Rock Hall noted in a press release, "Four out of the eight inductees in the Performer category were on the ballot for the first time, including Cher, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang and Peter Frampton." However, it should also be noted that Ozzy Osbourne was on the ballot for the first time as a solo artist, despite being eligible since 2005.
