A man who was driving while intoxicated back in 2016 has been convicted of vehicular homicide after the vehicle he was operating crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed into another vehicle -- Killing a 10-year-old girl.

The girl, identified as Isley Thibodeaux, was killed on impact. Additionally, her mother was severely injured in the crash.

According to The Daily Advertiser, at the time the accident occurred, Isley and her mom were returning home from a Carrie Underwood concert in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The publication also noted the man, Albert Kirk Sampy, had been convicted of driving while intoxicated in two other instances. On Monday, he received a 30 year sentence for vehicular homicide and a 15 year sentence for negligent injury.
