Delta flight routed to Fort Lauderdale plunges nearly 30,000 feet
According to Flight Aware, a Delta flight full of passengers from Atlanta plunged nearly 30,000 feet.
Passengers described panic in Tweets as they grabbed for oxygen masks on board a Delta flight.
@Delta Flight 2353 God Bless the Captain and crew. Had an emergency midair from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale. Oxygen masks deployed and we descended quickly and we're diverted to Tampa. According to the website, the plane descended from 39,000 feet to 10,000 feet in fewer than seven minutes.

The plane was diverted to Tampa International Airport Wednesday night, where mechanics were working to figure out what went wrong.
