Law And Order: SVU is the longest running live action drama in US history, with 21 seasons and counting. Actually, 3 of the top 5 shows on television are cop shows. Some think that needs to change.
The argument is that these shows help perpetuate institutional racism and unpunished police brutality. Stories that portray cops mostly as heroes and protagonists and black people as the criminals. If a cop does anything wrong, it’s always for the greater good. It also doesn’t help that President Trump used the phrase “Law And Order” during the recent protests.
The cop shows may not get cancelled, but I’m willing to bet that when filming resumes the story lines will have changed.
