Evan Peters is teaming up with Ryan Murphy again for his take on infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in a limited series called Monster on Netflix, Deadline reports.

34-year-old Peters, who was just on Disney+'s Wandavision, joins Richard Jenkins, Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown, and Colin Ford in the cast. Miller and Jenkins play Dahmer’s mother Joyce and father Lionel, respectively. Nash plays the series’ female lead, Glenda Cleveland, a neighbor of Dahmer’s who called police numerous times and even tried calling the FBI to alert them of Dahmer’s erratic behavior without success. Brown plays Tracy, Dahmer’s last intended victim who fought back and managed to escape, leading the cops to Dahmer’s apartment, resulting in the killer’s arrest. Ford plays a character named Chazz.

In 2018, Peters said the toll his dark roles take on him is "just exhausting. It's really mentally draining, and you don't want to go to those places ever in your life. And so you have to go there for the scenes, and it ends up integrating it somehow into your life. You're in traffic and you find yourself screaming and you're like, 'What the hell? This isn't who I am.'"

On working with Murphy on the American Horror Story series, Peters said "I trust him and his vision and his writing and directing and sort of him overseeing everything. I know there's a bigger plan, and so I always throw it up to him, and I say, 'I'm in your hands. Let's do this. Whatever you need me to do.'"

Per Deadline, Monster chronicles the story of one of America’s most notorious serial killers, largely told from the point of view of Dahmer’s victims.

Jeffrey Dahmer raped, murdered, and dismembered at least 17 men and boys in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, between 1978 and 1991. When he was finally arrested, his crimes -- including cannibalism and necrophilia -- shocked the American public.

He was charged with 17 murders, convicted of 16 of them in 1992, and sentenced to 16 life terms in prison. Although he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and psychotic disorder, he was found to be mentally fit to stand trial. On November 28, 1994, 34-year-old Dahmer was bludgeoned to death by a fellow inmate at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin.
