Who would you say had the better 4-year run during the 90s: Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey? This is not an easy decision.
Both Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey dominated the box office during the 1990s. It seems like everything they touched turned to gold! They simply couldn’t miss. They each delivered some of our favorite comedies during that stretch of time and each had impressive 4-year runs with their hit movies. However, who had the better run: Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey?

This could be one of the toughest decisions you’ll ever have to make in your life. If so, that’s a great problem to have! Consider yourself very lucky. Both of these guys had successful runs, made lots of money, and made comedies we consider to be timeless. Picking one over the other is nothing against the other one. They’ve both earned the right to be labeled comedy icons. But let’s highlight their accomplishments during their respective 4-year runs.
I wanted to cap it at four because if you span their entire careers it’s too much. Instead, by picking a 4-year run where they were dropping hit after hit goes to show what powerhouses these two were in the 1990s. Nobody is coming close to anything like that these days! Seriously, can you think of the last quotable comedy that came to theatres? Maybe Step Brothers in 2008 or Bridesmaids in 2011? I can’t think of any more recent examples!
Adam Sandler’s dominant run happened from 1995-1999. During that 4-year stretch, he starred in Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and Big Daddy. I don’t know anybody who doesn’t like any of those movies. We ate them all up! Meanwhile, Jim Carrey’s success from 1994-1998 was on par with what Sandler was doing. Carrey had movies like The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, two Ace Ventura movies, and Liar Liar. For Millennials, those are the movies we grew up with! You’d be hard-pressed to find someone whose favorite movie was not one of those.
