Fort Myers Banana Tree Planted In Troublesome Pothole Knocked Down Over Weekend
A banana tree planted in the middle of a street to protest poor road conditions was knocked down over the long weekend.
Bryan Raymond, of Fort Myers, planted the banana tree in a pothole last Thursday after growing frustrated with constantly filling the pothole with cement. His statement was the talk of the town over the weekend!
“I love it, I think it’s hilarious. We should have more of these,” Scott Shein, from SWFL RV Sales and Rentals, told NBC2 News.
Raymond owns Progress and Pride Fitness Group located on the same street as the pothole, according to NBC2. He said his security cameras have captured the hole repeatedly cause damage to cars.
The county says the maintenance of the road falls on business owners, Raymond said. So a banana tree his the answer to the pesky problem.
Unfortunately, good things usually come to an end. We received photos early Tuesday morning of the banana tree knocked down.
Is this the end to the protest? Or will we see more banana trees planted in potholes around town? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
