Florida Atlantic Represents Hometown FL Pride

Update March 24, 2023: Florida Atlantic upset Tennessee last night 62-55, earning a trip to the Elite Eight. They will play Kansas State on Saturday. The FAU roster includes six players from Florida and a Punta Gorda native, Tre Carroll.

Florida Atlantic is headed to the Sweet 16. Two days after they won their first NCAA tournament game, the Owls took care of Cinderella story, Farleigh Dickenson University Sunday night to earn another first - a date with Tennessee at Madison Square Garden. Furthermore, the team that calls sunny Boca Raton, FL home actually has a roster full of Floridians. Florida Atlantic has six players from Florida on the team.

While the University of Miami (the other Florida team to make the Sweet 16) is the more popular name and sport destination, it's the Florida Atlantic squad that is truly representing hometown pride in the tournament. The Owls have six players on the roster that hail from the Sunshine state. In addition, these six players cover each grade level from Redshirt Freshman all the way up to Senior.

Sophomore Forward Isaiah Gaines #5 is from Pensacola, FL. Senior Guard Michael Forrest #11 is from Lauderhill, FL. Finally, Redshirt Freshman Forward, Tre Carroll #25 is from Punta Gorda, FL.
