At Sunny 106.3, we love our monthly visits from the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Fort Myers for the Pet of the Month.

We want to get these pets out of the shelter and find them a new home in Southwest Florida.

JULY PET OF THE MONTH

Find Dana A Home

Dana was surrendered to the GCHS about 170 days ago. That is an unusally long time to be there. Especially for a dog as great as she is according to Brian Wierima. He is the Community Relations Coordinator at Gulf Coast Humane Society and sees a lot of animals come and go.

This one has a special place in his heart. “No one has asked for her yet and it makes me sad because she is a wonderful dog,” Wierima said. “People are missing out. Whoever gets here will be very lucky.”

People tend to overlook the older dogs, in lieu of puppies. Dana is 7 1/2 years old but still has lots of energy and is a fun dog. Especially when you pet her.

Dana’s previous owner had to surrender her, and she is not used to the shelter. Being in a good home for so long, shelter life is causing some stress. She has lost some weight so will likely fill out a little bit more once you get her home and love on her a little more.

She is good with kids and people in general. However, Dana does need to be the only pet in the house.

Here is some great news if you are interested in Dana. Her adoption is actually already paid for. She could be yours free and clear.
