In a move that was expected, Nikolas Cruz, the 19 year old accused of killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, has withdrawn his not guilty plea. His legal team is attempting to negotiate a deal where the death penalty is taken off the table. Cruz would then plead guilty and a life sentence would be imposed.
RSW Airport will be getting a facelift to the tune of $150 million dollars. Yesterday the Lee County Port Authority voted to move forward with the renovations at Southwest Florida International Airport. Authority officials say the airport is experiencing record growth, and these changes are needed to help get people through security with less hassle. They hope to have the project finished by 2022.
Coming soon to Bonita Springs…Medical marijuana dispensaries, as the City Council voted to end the temporary ban. Now anyone with a license can submit a permit application for review, and a dispensary can open just about anywhere in the city as long as it’s more than 500 feet away from a school.
