Congressman Francis Rooney was in Southwest Florida yesterday and he urged funding for water management projects and economic relief after touring Clewiston, Fort Myers Beach and North Fort Myers.
Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other officials, joined Rooney on his tour. The Congressman had to stop the press conference several times to clear his throat. He was clearly affected by the red tide.
Police are continuing to investigate the death of a 4 month old baby at an unlicensed daycare in Golden Gate. The daycare is on 50th Terrace Southwest and was immediately closed by DCF officials. DCF says the individuals running the daycare center acted carelessly and put the safety of the children there in danger.
Police arrested 2 teens and charged them with armed burglary and other charges. They’re accused a burglarizing Cape Guns on Skyline Boulevard and stealing 10 firearms. All those firearms have been recovered.
A local convenience store suffered about 2 thousand dollars in damage when someone opened fire on the building Tuesday night. It happened at the Kuntry Express store on Buckingham Road. No one was injured. Police are investigating.
