First Known David Bowie Recording Sold At Auction
David Bowie made his first recording when he was 16-years-old with his then band The Konrads. But it failed to make a dent in the music world and Bowie didn’t reach stardom for six more years. The recording made in 1963 features Bowie on lead vocals, attributed to his given name David Jones. English auction house Omega Auctions expected to fetch £10,000 for the demo tape of “I Never Dreamed” on Tuesday, but it sold for four times that price. Bowie left The Konrads shortly after making the tape and broke out as a solo artist. Have you listened to the earlier, lesser known works by your favorite artists? Which are some of your favorites?
