The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced yesterday that drier conditions in Florida are allowing them to reduce the amount of water flowing from Lake Okeechobee into the Caloosahatchee River. Beginning today, the target flow for water into the Caloosahatchee River will be 2,000 cubic feet per second, and will be cut to 1,500 cfs the following week and to 1,000 cfs the week after that.
Attorney General Pam Bondi launched a website today, for those that needto report allegations of past child sex abuse by Catholic priests in Florida. The site is part of Bondi’s investigation into all seven Catholic dioceses in the state. Past abuse can be reported by visiting MyFloridaLegal.com/StopAbuse.
63 year old Anthony Del Priore, a teacher’s aide at Baker Early Learning Center in Punta Gorda has been arrested on two counts of felony child abuse for allegedly kicking a chair out from one student and hitting another student on the head. He was taken to Charlotte County Jail.

Police have arrested 46 year old Yusuf Akkoc on charges of aggravated battery, firing a deadly missile into a vehicle, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. Police say he shot a gun from a vehicle he was driving, and when his girlfriend protested and called an Uber, he also shot at the Uber vehicle. Both vehicles eventually crashed on San Carlos Blvd.
