Florida’s hotly contested US Senate race could be heading for an automatic recount. Republican Rick Scott held a 30,000 vote lead over incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson, according to unofficial returns posted Wednesday afternoon by the state Division of Elections. State law triggers a recount if the difference in a race is less than 0.5 percent. So if the returns stand, the state will count the ballots again.
We’re also headed for a recount in the race for Agriculture Commission. Currently, Republican Matt Caldwell leads Democrat Nikki Fried by a little over 12,000 votes
Police have identified a man who was found dead outside of a vacant Fort Myers home over the weekend on Lincoln Boulevard. 48 year old Patrick Moore was found in a backyard of a home on that street. Police don’t think his death was suspicious. His body has been taken to the medical examiners’s office for an autopsy.
A man who has been arrested multiple times for molesting children has been arrested again. 35 year old Richard Brown, who is homeless is charged with molesting a child under the age of 12. He’s being held on no bond.
Our new Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno has been hit with a paternity suit. Deanna Lynn Williams of Fort Myers filed suit against the Sheriff Monday, claiming she’s currently carrying Marceno’s child. She’s due to give birth next year. The Sheriff hasn’t commented on the suit
