Lee County Deputies are investigating a pedestrian fatality overnight. A body was found in the road at Summerlin and San Carlos Boulevard. Police are calling it a hit and run.

 

Lawsuits are flying on both sides but Florida’s election recount continues amid problem with overheating voting machines, illegible or non-matching signatures and other issues. Still many counties have wrapped up their machine recount ahead of the deadline.

 

Good news for those concerned about our blue-green algae problem. Work began yesterday on the Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir, which is being built to handle some of those fresh water releases from Lake Okeechobee that contribute to our algae issues. Construction will take about eight years, but once finished  the site will include a 23-foot-deep reservoir that holds 240,000 acre-feet of water.

 

Authorities have arrested 24 year old Javier Arrendondo on charges of possession of child pornography. Police went to his home and seized several computers and devices believed to contain child pornography. More charges are pending. The suspect is in the Collier County Jail

 

 

 

 

Florida Woman Busted for Stealing

  • A Florida woman got a little too drunk and allegedly stole a live lobster from a tank at her local Red Lobster.
  • Kimberly Gabel started causing a fuss at the Red Lobster in St. Petersburg. The arrest report said she was “intoxicated” and “loud.”
  • She started cursing as she was asked to leave the restaurant. As she was leaving, Gabel reached into the water tank, grabbed a lobster and ran out the entrance.
  • Law enforcement caught up to Gabel and arrested her. The report said she smelled like booze. Gabel also told police that she didn’t know what she did with the lobster because she was “blacked out drunk.” The lobster hasn’t been found yet.
