Police have made an arrest in connection with a threat to shoot up North Fort Myers High School. School officials found the threats scrawled on surfaces in one of the girls bathrooms. There was an increased police presence at the school Monday. The student arrested was a 16 years old female. Meanwhile there was a second arrest of a student for making a threat at Oak Hammock Middle School in Tice, and there were also threats reported at Mariner High School and Mariner Middle School in Cape Coral.
Authorities are investigating the death of a young Cape Coral firefighter who passed away over the weekend. Christopher Asseff of Port Charlotte, who had been with the department less than a year, was found dead in his apartment Saturday morning after he missed a shift the previous day.
Beer and wine can now be sold at Cape Coral’s Sunsplash Water Park. Alcohol sales were approved by the City Council and will begin when the park reopens on March 9th
