51-year-old Omar Benitez, a Fort Myers Doctor, was killed Saturday in a boating accident When he crashed into mangroves on Hendry Creek and was ejected from his boat. The doctor has two young sons. FWC is investigating the accident.

35-year-old Justin Bent was killed over the weekend when his motorcycle was hit by a car in North Fort Myers. The crash occurred on US 41 near Arrowhead Boulevard Saturday afternoon. The car was driven by 85-year-old Max Hamock. He and his wife were both hospitalized. There have been several crashes in the past at that intersection.

5 people were killed in a plane crash near the Pahokee airport. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said a twin-engine Piper aircraft went down in Lake Okeechobee while approaching the Airport Friday afternoon. One person was seen swimming away from the airplane, but has not been located.

Captain Marvel’ Smashes the Box Office

Captain Marvel opened on Friday and is looking to finish the weekend with a box office of $153 million in the US.
Worldwide it is looking to do $455 million.
All weekend totals are not in yet but if Captain Marvel completes the weekend at $153 million or better it would be the 3rd highest opening for a movie in the month of March.
Previous March movie openings are, #1 Beauty and the Beast ($174.8 million) #2 Batman v Superman ($166 million)
Many want to compare Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel which is not a fair comparison. Wonder Woman, a DC Comic movie, opened in the Summer and had competition from Pirates of the Caribbean and Guardians of the Galaxy (the second one). Wonder Woman opening weekend total was $103 million.
Marvel also has a deeper and more loyal fan base than DC Comics so there is a built audience and loyalty to the brand.

No One Hates Christmas Music More Than This Guy

A Pennsylvania man is facing assault charges after allegedly choking a man over singing Christmas music.
TV station WTAE reports that 25-year old Clayton Lewis assaulted the victim while he was being transported from a halfway house to a treatment class. The victim was singing Christmas tunes when Lucas became enraged and began hitting and choking the victim, causing him to nearly lose consciousness.
Lucas also refused the commands of police officers who were trying to calm him down, forcing them to use physical force to handcuff him. He's now charged with aggravated assault and has a hearing March 13th.

Alton Brown’s One-Ingredient Hack for Better Coffee

Alton Brown is a food science whiz, cookbook author and host of the cooking show, Good Eats.
On an old episode of Good Eats, Alton suggested adding kosher salt to your coffee.
For every one cup of coffee he said to use two tablespoons of ground coffee and a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt to take the bitterness out of the coffee.
In a Facebook post, Alton said that it not only cuts the bitterness but it smoothes out the stale last of tank-stored water.
He said that science has proven that salt is better at neutralizing bitterness than sugar.
