After a landslide vote in the Florida House, SB 182 got signed into law yesterday by Governor Ron DeSantis.  This bill not only repeals the medical marijuana smoking ban that had been deadlocked by a state appeal, but it also allows doctors to order a 210-day supply of medical cannabis as opposed to the current 70 day limit.

 

Collier County deputies were on hand at 17th Avenue Southwest and Sunshine Boulevard in Golden Gate Estates yesterday after two teens were stabbed during a fight. Their injuries were not serious. A third teen was held for questioning.

 

Police have identified the two people killed in an overnight crash on Corkscrew Road Monday morning. 23 year old Megan Raynor of Immokalee and 67 year old Chan Lun of Port Charlotte were pronounced dead at the scene, Lun’s passenger was airlifted to the hospital. The investigation into the crash is continuing.

 

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 55 year old David Harmon and his accomplice 28 year old Samantha Labbe. They’ve been charged with the theft of more than $20,000 worth of jewelry firearms and other items from a home where they were staying. They’ve been charged with grand theft and dealing in stolen property

 

Police have arrested 29 year old Uriel Chavez—Rodriguez of Collier County has been arrested on charges of cruelty to a child after he allegedly attacked a young girl after snorting cocaine. According to the report, the girl was saved when her sister entered the room. Chavez-Rodriguez was taken to the Immokalee Jail Center.

 

Woman Gives Birth to 6 Babies in Just 9 Minutes

  • A Texas woman is going to be changing diapers and preparing bottles for quite a while after giving birth to 6 babies.
  • The most interesting part of the births was that it was all done within a 9-minute time span on Friday.
  • The babies are in stable condition and will be cared for at the local hospital.
  • Yahoo says the odds of having sextuplets are 1 in 4.7 billion.

 

 

Women Start Turning Into Their Mothers At What Age?

  • A new study claims that when women hit 33-years-old, they start acting like their moms.
  • Women allegedly begin picking up mom’s taste, habits, and attitudes.
  • This includes using the same sayings, doing similar hobbies and watching some of the TV shows mom watches.
  • For men, they start turning into their dads at around 34-years-old. They start liking some of the same music and picking up some of dad’s political leans.

  • Man’s best friend just became a little cooler thanks to a new kind of clothing available to him or her.
  • You can now purchase swim trunks for your dog to go on those long-awaited summer vacations.
  • Amazon is selling the swim trunks and you can have them too, so you and your dog can be twins as you hop in and out of the pool.

Jelly Belly Creator Introduces CBD-Infused Jelly Beans

  • The creator of Jelly Belly is branching out with a new product – CBD-infused jelly beans.
  • David Klein, who created Jelly Belly back in 1976, says he recently became aware of the benefits of cannabidiol, or CBD, and noticed that no one had made them into a jelly bean yet.
  • Now his new company, Spectrum Confections, is rolling out CBD jelly beans in many of the same flavors that made Jelly Belly popular – like Toasted Marshmallow, Strawberry Cheesecake, Mango, and Pina Colada.  A sugar-free version is also available.

 

Sugary Drinks Can Be Deadly, Study Says

  • Most of us already knew that sugary drinks like soda are bad for you.  But a new report suggests it might be worse than we thought – especially for women.
  • According to the study, drinking two sugary beverages a day can increase the risk of premature death by 29% for men, and 63% for women, compared to those who imbibe less than once a month.  Sugary drinks have also been linked to risk of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke in previous studies.
  • So you should just switch to diet soda, right?  Not so fast – while swapping out one diet drink a day can help lower the risk, drinking two or more can lead to many of the same health issues.

 

 

Escaped Cow Makes A Chick-Fil-A Run

  • If you were a cow on the loose and was hungry for fast food, where would you go?  Obviously it would be Chick-fil-a, right?
  • That’s exactly what happened in Noblesville, Indiana, where a cow escaped and wandered through a shopping center and across a busy street, headed straight for a nearby Chick-fil-a restaurant.
  • The cow had been on the run from local police, who chased it “all over the east side”, according to a Facebook post.  A number of residents have since posted video of the cow’s weekend adventure.
