Police continue to investigate a shooting in Fort Myers Shores in which a man was killed yesterday morning. The shooting took place near the intersection of Tropic Avenue and First Street off Palm Beach Boulevard. The victim has been identified as 51 year old Ronald Martin.
Timothy Rice, a wanted sexual predator from Northport, has turned himself into police. Rice had been arrested last month after parents complained that he touched their daughters inappropraitely at a Charlotte County pool. After investigating, police found previous incidents involving Rice, including the warrant out of Northport.
20 year old Samantha King of Northport was arrested yesterday, charged with DUI in connection with a crash that caused two deaths following the Atlanta Braves first exhibition game at their new stadium. She’s charged with causing a chain reaction crash and is facing five counts of DUI with property damage and two counts of DUI manslaughter.
Funeral services will be held today for Layla Aiken, the 8 year old from Cape Coral killed by a hit and run driver while waiting at her bus stop. The service will be at the Gallaher Funeral Home, on Cleveland Avenue, across from Lee Memorial Hospital from 3-7pm…and is open to the public.
